WenYou is an SMS app at its core — built on real, carrier-based SMS, the same network your phone has always used to send and receive text messages. On top of that foundation, WenYou adds end-to-end encryption for online chat, privacy controls, and modern communication features.
That means:
- WenYou reaches any phone number directly, with no dependency on the other person having any app installed.
- WenYou keeps working even with zero mobile data, as long as there is a cellular signal — because SMS is built on the carrier network itself, not the internet.
- Every advanced feature in WenYou (online encryption, themes, voice/video calls, disappearing messages, location sharing, per-contact privacy) exists as an enhancement layer on top of that same SMS foundation.
WenYou is designed to complement how people already communicate — and to sit in place of the phone's default SMS app: guaranteed delivery over the carrier network, plus a private online layer, fully yours.

Online chat
When internet is available, WenYou delivers messages through its cloud chat layer. Confirmed capabilities include QR-code contact add, typing indicators, online and last-seen status, delivery and read receipts, message reactions, and per-contact chat customization.

Offline scope
When mobile data or Wi‑Fi is unavailable, WenYou's offline interaction uses the standard SMS cellular network for messages and location (pending final product confirmation). WenYou does not claim Bluetooth, mesh, or satellite messaging transport.
Location sharing
Location is shared as a Google Maps link, sent online or via SMS. WenYou also supports offline location requests, code-based instant access (mechanism not publicly specified yet), and GPS-Lock gating for conversations.
