## What WenYou actually is

WenYou is an SMS app at its core — built on real, carrier-based SMS, the same network your phone has always used to send and receive text messages. On top of that foundation, WenYou adds end-to-end encryption for online chat, privacy controls, and modern communication features.

That means:

- WenYou reaches any phone number directly, with no dependency on the other person having any app installed.
- WenYou keeps working even with zero mobile data, as long as there is a cellular signal — because SMS is built on the carrier network itself, not the internet.
- Every advanced feature in WenYou (online encryption, themes, voice/video calls, disappearing messages, location sharing, per-contact privacy) exists as an enhancement layer on top of that same SMS foundation.

WenYou is designed to sit in place of the phone's default SMS app: carrier delivery plus a private online layer.
